POETRY: THE SUSTENANCE OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT

Abstrak

This article is devoted to an analysis of the works of Sirajiddin Rauf1, a prominent
representative of contemporary Uzbek poetry. It discusses the human being and the emotions
inherent in him; civic duty; the image of the homeland in the poet’s works and the feeling of love
for it; and the distinctive features of his imagery. S. Rauf is a poet writing in every direction of
poetry. Alongside poems in syllabic metre, he has achieved notable success as a writer who has
tested himself in creating narrative poems, sonnets, rubaiyat, and tuyuks. What follows considers
an artistic analysis of the poet’s works and their effect upon the reader’s spirit and the cultivation
of spiritual health.
